Four Black artists who have worked with us over the last six years will discuss their experiences and thoughts as artists moderated by Rona Carr, former Chamber Dance Project board member.

CDP violinists Claudia Chudacoff and Chaerim Smith combine to perform several works and then deconstruct them musically.

An overview of the people, companies and organizations driving the growth of the art form in the 20th century. We will look at this growth in a 30-minute overview including photos and videos followed by a discussion and Q & A.
They have partnered together in such favorites as Journey and Berceuse, and Davit has done the male duet Exit Wounds. They will discuss the elements of contemporary partnering and how is it different from classical, as well as show video clips from their contemporary works with Chamber Dance Project. They provide demonstrations while deconstructing the technique and physical demands involved.

Luz and Davit, with us since our DC debut in summer of 2014, are consummate partners. They have performed many classical roles together with Milwaukee Ballet and will discuss the elements of the pas de deux and classical partnering through video clips. They offer a live demonstration, including lifts, and describe the physical demands involved in partnering. A Q&A will follow the presentation. Read more about Luz and Davit HERE

Our dancer and ballet master Julia Erickson has danced many of the major classical roles with her former company, Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre. Julia will discuss the mental and physical preparation required to dance a role such as Odette/Odile in Swan Lake with photos and video clips.

Featuring our new dancer, Grace-Anne will share her life as a dancer from her early training through her career through photos and videos. She will discuss her life as a professional ballet dancer, currently with BalletMet, and discuss how she approaches the creation and performance of her roles. We will also hear Grace-Anne talk about all things pointe shoes.

The dancers of Chamber Dance Project and Diane will present an informal open rehearsal through Zoom. Attendees will experience the process of creating movement and how it is adapted throughout a rehearsal.
Bekah will discuss notable costumes in our repertoire from the initial concept to the stage. Her presentation includes slides, video clips, and discussion.

Diane starts off the chat by sharing her passion for Serge Diaghilev and the Ballet Russes (“This is my very favorite period of ballet and one that heavily influenced my founding of Chamber Dance Project.”) Her presentation includes slides, video clips, music and discussion. It will be in two parts, as it is such a rich period of creativity (think Le Sacre du Printemps by Stravinsky/Nijinsky).
