Chamber Dance Project’s January 2027 Season Washington DC’s premier contemporary ballet company with live music
This January, step into an intimate performance of contemporary ballet, live music, and new work. Chamber Dance Project’s January 2027 season brings 9 exceptional dancers and our resident string quartet to Arena Stage’s Kreeger Theater on Saturday, January 9.
The program features the DC premiere of Sur le Fil, a striking and elusive ballet by choreographer Penny Saunders. Evocative and cinematic, the work moves between mystery and intensity. William Moore’s Slice makes its world premiere, a poignant new work created for Chamber Dance Project in which movement and music feel inseparable. The return of Dimensions, the second movement of Moore’s Murmur, centers on a dynamic male solo. Repertoire works by founding Artistic Director and choreographer Diane Coburn Bruning, include Arranged, an austere and beautifully stark work, and Four Men, an athletic and physically dynamic ballet.
Throughout the evening, musicians and dancers share the stage, responding to one another in real time. It is a defining part of the Chamber Dance Project experience—and one that makes every performance immediate, intimate, and alive.
