Our work is a powerful celebration of outstanding artists collaborating on pieces with contemporary relevance and resonance. Award-winning choreographer Diane Coburn Bruning founded Chamber Dance Project upon her commitment to new work and her conviction that dance should be a collaboration between dancers and musicians, that smaller performance venues heighten the experience, and that sharing the creative process with audiences deepens their experience in witnessing live performance.
Violinist Sally McLain has brought her expertise, artistry, and leadership of our string quartet for many years.
Repertoire
Our Repertory includes over 20 powerful ballets by 14 contemporary choreographers, including Artistic Director Diane Coburn Bruning, most of them commissioned and premiered by Chamber Dance Project—all with live music by our string quartet and guest musicians.
Our Artists
We hire soloist-level dancers from top ballet companies during their summer layoff, working with our resident string quartet and guest musicians, including brass bands, jazz trios, singers, and slam poets. We tour with 12-14 dancers and musicians.
