We invite you to our annual concert with some exceptional music and guest artists featuring Grammy Award-winning composer Charlton Singleton and guest choreographer Christian Denice as well as two Chamber Dance Project dancers. The evening will be an exploration of music, movement, and cultural heritage.

At the heart of the evening is Charlton’s work Testimony, a composition for string quartet commissioned by the Kronos Quartet, influenced by Gullah culture and the church praise band tradition. Guests will engage with Charlton as he breaks down the musical themes and rhythms of Testimony alongside other Gullah-influenced musical pieces, such as Kumbaya. You’ll also witness a behind-the-scenes look at the ballet in progress with live demonstration and discussion led by Christian and our dancers, Crystal Serrano and Michael Mengden. The ballet will premiere on January 10 during our Arena Stage performances.

Our string quartet will also perform and discuss other repertoire works with Artistic Director, Diane Coburn Bruning, with the dancers providing a deeper insight into the ballets.

A reception where guests can meet all of the artists will follow the concert.
