Description: Lupine House is a quintessential Maine cottage. Built in the early 1900’s it sits on a little less than ¾ of a meadowy acre on Long Cove watching the cycles of the tide in the lovely community of Chamberlain. The cottage is wrapped by a comfortable porch four steps up from the garden, affording views of the water and beautiful sunsets. There is a dining area looking out to the front as well as seating groupings towards the north end of the room for gathering or watching television near the cast iron propane stove built into the original fireplace. There is one bathroom in the cottage, located on the main floor, with a shower, not a tub, that looks out to the woodland behind. The main floor has a bedroom with a queen-size bed, a comfortable chair for reading, and a writing table. Upstairs, the north bedroom has a full-size bed and a seating area, The central west-facing room is used as an office with a desk and couch looking out to the mouth of the cove and the sea beyond. The south-facing bedroom has two twin beds. All mattresses in the cottage are brand new as are the linens and bedding. The cottage is appointed with a mix of antiques and vintage pieces, simple and spare and “so darn cute” we are told. The cottage is close to the towns of New Harbour and Round Pond, with many wonderful hikes/preserves on the point which are a part of the Coastal Rivers Conservation Trust, and what can beat being 10 minutes from Reilly’s market and Puffins Ice Cream. A walk around the loop on the cove provides for breathtaking views of the sky and sea.
